Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle, yet powerful method of healing. Reiki energy, (often described as "universal life energy" or "spiritual energy") is accessed by the practitioner during a treatment.
It enhances the body's natural healing ability and promotes wellbeing. Reiki treatment is effective both as self-treatment and when delivered by another person.
What to Expect During a Treatment Session
Reiki is performed fully dressed in a comforting and relaxing environment
The touch is feather light with stationary holds over the whole body
We encourage you to not talk and focus on relaxing areas of tension and pain
You may doze off and will feel deeply relaxed
After a reiki session you may feel a little disoriented for a few minutes
We offer you the opportunity to sit with a drink and discuss any changes you notice.
Evidence to Support Reiki
There is an abundance of anecdotal evidence about the benefits of Reiki treatment and this has been a catalyst for credible international and local research into the effects of Reiki on chronic diseases and mental health. "… studies that have been done so far have showed promising results for using Reiki to reduce stress, anxiety and pain. The data include objective measures (decreased stress hormones, improved immune indicators, decreased heart rate and improved blood pressure) as well as subjective improvements in anxiety and pain."
