How Remedial Massage is Different
Remedial massage and soft tissue therapy is not just a sit or lie down rub. The treatment is specifically designed to meet your particular needs; physical, functional and psychological. At Specialised Massage we listen to what you have to say.
Typically a remedial treatment may not cover the entire body. There simply is not enough time to address all structural imbalances and restricted tissues in one session. The principle of less is more often tends to work best by allowing your body to adjust and re-establish normal nerve firing, tissue flexibility and function at it’s own pace.
It often takes weeks, months and even years for these problems to develop resulting in your current grief. Most commonly though, it will take only 2 to 4 sessions to give you relief and pave the way towards
more normal function with a follow up of maintenance sessions on a less frequent basis if necessary.
Remedial massage is designed to:
create favourable conditions for your body to return to normal health at it’s own pace
reverse the physical effects causing pain & dysfunction
balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension & tone
relieve the pressure and tension on your bones
promote the return of normal joint, capsule, and bone positions
increase the flow of blood and lymph in injured areas
Remedial Massage is a partnership and Yyou will receive recommended actions to take after your treatment. These may include:
- keeping the problem area warm
- ensuring you have adequate fluid intake
- the need to move

Our purpose is to not only provide release and relaxation but to assist you to understand what is happening and how to prevent ongoing problems and manage your own health.
